Search Engine Optimization Training - How To Make Your Staff Competent
Filed Under (Internet) by admin on 16-10-2011
One of the best analogies or questions I heard years ago was what happens if you spend a great deal of time for the search engine optimization training of your staff and then they leave in six months or weeks time or two weeks time? What happens if they don’t leave your SEO services and you haven’t trained them at all? That’s the bigger problem to have.
It would be best to train even those who show possibilities of leaving you. This will give you an assurance that the ones who choose to stay are fully trained about the ropes of your system. It is wrong to assume that your staff will learn everything on their own. Not because you are running an online business, you will treat it and your staff differently. Spending time to train your outsource providers is important because it is your business they are handling.
We have prepared a network drive especially to new members of the team. This is an area where everyone can log into. We have got Google Docs and various Lists and Log-ins. In here, we share all information about each of the websites that we are optimizing as well as log-in details and a few personal information.
Underneath that we have systems. Now systems are all about training, so my team will generate trainings as they do it. Under email they might learn how to do AWeber, under SEO company and search engine optimization training, it’ll take them through The SEO Method, under the audio section, they’ll learn how to use Audacity. So all of the different tasks in my business, part of what I’ve done is create that culture of, you need to be creating a system that you can put in place behind you.
I never want to build a business that is person dependent. I want to build a business that is systems dependent. I don’t want to have it where this one person has built a little black box about what it is that they do, then they go and quit or leave or whatever and then here I am with nothing in place to plug a person straight back into. It’s called a WorkWiki. You can also include there your SEO products which could help in their training. If someone comes in and they say, Dave, I need to prepare that end of day report or I need to know how to invoice STU, I’ll say, go watch the video here. Do it, if you have any questions, then I’ll review it. I’ll do it with them. The first step is I show them how to do and I’ll do it through videos.
Imagine now in your own situation how much freedom that would give you when you provide your staff proper search engine optimization training rather than you having to show them every single task. You could just point them to the WorkWiki and say, half of your questions are already answered.
